The US blog, Malbeceamos, tasted in 2011 25 different Argentine wines. In this article, the author talks about the wines that amazed him the most.
2009 Terrazas de los Andes Malbec (USD 10.79) is one of the wines that according to Malbeceamos stood out in terms of price and quality.
“This is an inky purple malbec that seems thick as it is poured into the glass. As my nose neared the glass I was blown away by the powerful yet bright aroma of cherry, blackberry and raisin. I took longer than usual to take in the aroma because it was that good! This was an inviting and medium bodied wine. Up front the wine was big and fruity but made a beautiful transition into darker notes of chocolate, spice and tobacco. The finish was long and smooth. The wine seemed to have a very concentrated structure and evolved and got better with every sip. It was just as good if not better the next day. This wine makes me want to build a parilla in my back yard so I can enjoy it with some vacío and chorizo on a summer afternoon!”
“This was an excellent wine, the best I have had (so far) for around $10. I can’t wait to try the $15 malbec reserve from Terrazas on a special occasion.”
