Altos Las Hormigas

Colonia Las Liebres Bonarda Reserve 2011

Grape variety: Bonarda 100%
Sight: A luminous ruby color.
Nose: The wine opens with penetrating notes of roses, ripe red fruit and spicy black pepper.
Mouth: The silky, elegant palate is a result of a unique ageing process in neutral oak French foudres. The wine finishes with soft, sweet tannins and lively natural acidity.

Clásico Malbec 2011

Grape variety: Malbec 100%
Sight: Deep, purple-red hues hint, a classic Malbec from Mendoza.
Nose: Delicate aromas of fresh black currant, wild blackberry and notes of soft vanilla blend with a subtle toasted-oak finish.
Mouth: The palate displays characteristics of the excellent 2011 vintage: juicy, elegant fruit, soft tannins and a balanced structure. The result is an honest, persistent Malbec.

Reserva Malbec 2009

Grape variety: Malbec 100%
Sight: A brilliant, purple-red Malbec.
Nose: Enticing aromas of flowers, ripe red and black fruits mixed with subtle notes of graphite and flint stone. The complexity of the nose develops further with time and air.
Mouth: The palate is creamy, almost greedy with satisfying volume and softness. Fresh, juicy red fruit in the mouth confirms the first impression on the nose. Round, firm tannins, a backbone of well-integrated acidity and bright fruit present, a complex and balanced wine. The complexity has developed greatly for its ageing in barrel.

About us

Altos Las Hormigas envisions a terroir in Argentina. Malbec specialists since 1995, well-known Tuscan winemaker Alberto Antonini,  Antonio Morescalchi, a young entrepreneur and the whole “Team of Ants” - as they call themselves, understand that outstanding wine can only stem from an outstanding soil.

Working closely with terroir expert Pedro Parra, they have been digging and probing in every corner of Mendoza, searching for parcels like some would hunt a treasure. Using advanced techniques of macrozoning and microzoning, they are committed to capturing the quintessence of Mendoza’s character and terroir and reveal it through their wines.
