Trade and consumers delivered a resounding "yes" to Argentinian wineries in the tastings organized by Wines of Argentina in London. The first event was aimed at consumers who had the chance to drink from value to top end wines. Decanter and the chain restaurants "Gaucho" also participated in the organization of this event, which was carried out on 12th September in Vinópolis (Borough Market). It was a real success: more than 400 attendees and 35 Argentinian wineries were present.
The second event, aimed at the trade, was performed in Lord´s Cricket Ground. 91 local wineries were present and the audience was around 550 people. The presence of some important chains, such as Sainsbury´s, Tesco, Direct Wines, Majestic, Oddbins, Waitrose, Asda, Virgin Wines, Naked Wines and Marks & Spencer, contributed to generate favorable business relations.
Lis Clément, Wofa`s Marketing & Communications Manager, said that they took advantage of the event to launch the branding campaign for Malbec and Torrontés: "We want consumers to link Malbec and Torrontés with Argentina. Climatic and geographical conditions make Malbec grows very well developing unique features. These are Argentina`s strengths and this is what we show to our consumers."
Some international journalists were present in the tastings, including Robert Parker from United Kingdom; Decanter`s editor, Neil Martin; and the British journalist Jancis Robinson.
