Callejón del Crimen is the title of a love and tragic story featuring two lovers in the Uco Valley. It is an unsolved mystery only known by villagers and of which there are different versions. Through this name, Finca La Luz’s wines embody mystery, passion and a legend passed down from one generation to the next.
This wine line awarded three Gold Medals for Callejón del Crimen Gran Reserva Malbec 2011, Callejón del Crimen Gran Reserva Petit Verdot 2011, Callejón del Crimen Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2012, and Callejón del Crimen Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2011, and a silver for Callejón del Crimen Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2011, at the prestigious international contest “Berliner Wein Trophy 2014”, held in Germany in February. These recognitions are part of a long list of international awards.
As regards the important awards the winery is reaching at prestigious wine contests, the winery’s CEO, Maximiliano Martirena, underlined: “they show us that we are on the right way, consolidating the quality and character of our wines. The fact that 4 of our wines were awarded three gold medals is an outstanding performance. Moreover, these important recognitions accompanied the winery in our first presentation at the International Prowein Fair 2014”.
About Finca La Luz
Its vineyards: stretch over 60 hectares in the region of Villa Seca, Tunuyán. One important aspect is that Finca La Luz is one of the first vineyards planted in this region thanks to the vision of an Italian immigrant who decided to plant them about 60 years ago. “Our 60-year old grapevines in the Uco Valley are our distinguishing feature,” maintained Martirena.
Its wines: are outstanding for their concentrated fruit aromas and elegance granted by their aging in French oak barrels. “We boast a really defined and special style that stands out among the rest, what is evidently perceived by judges at blind tastings.
What is next:
the winery will launch a top-end icon wine under the name of Finca La Luz, with a yield of 5000 kg/ha and a 24-month aging in first-use barrels.
